So far, the unofficial parallel counting by the various newscasts have shown that the survey results are almost identical to the current tally. If this persists, we will have Noynoy Aquino as our 15th President. This does not bum me out. Yes I would rather have someone else seated as president, particularly Richard Gordon or Gilbert Teodoro, but at least it’s not someone who would force me out of the country. What bums me out is the fact that Erap Estrada is in second place which just goes to show that (as of this writing) there are 5.6 million uneducated voters in the country. OK, I’ll blurt it out. Voting for this is just plain old stupid. Yes we had a hard time during Arroyo’s administration, but Estrada did far worse than that. We experienced the all time low of dollar-peso ratio. An all out war. Intense corruption and politicians playing it for the select businessmen.
Plain and simple, as I have stated in the past, Erap Estrada is not worthy of a second chance. Are you willing to have an ex-convict and a proven liar and all out unrespectable human being as the main representative of the Filipino people? If you vote him to be president again, then I spit on being Pinoy.
What bums me out even more are the top 12 senators in this unofficial count. So far, it’s all the same. It’s still them. Revilla. Enrile. Drilon. And all the other fame-hungry, deceitful, cash cows who have been there since I was able to think. One would think that in the amount of time we think and argue about who our president should be, we should also take the same amount of deliberation in thinking about who our senators would be. Combined, the Upper House has almost, if not the same, powers as the president. We should consider our senators carefully and not settle for traditional politicians who we vote for just because we’re already used to them being there.
So far, as I see it, this has been a very depressing day.
My two pesos.
